For a guy that is absolutely minted that Harry bloke is pretty down to earth.

Re: Old Lotuses
Those Elans are beautiful. Harry's Garage (youtube channel) has a pristine early 80's Esprit. Paid about 45k for it.

I bought an '89 SE sight-unseen from a UK classic car auction in Sep. It arrived here in NZ last Thursday. Customs and quarantine have to do their thing and I should finally get it in a couple of weeks. I must be fucking mental. At least while it's in transit it's not costing me anything.

The Espirit, the one in the Bond film was a mechanically flawed car and kept breaking down.

Slightly off topic - I know.
If you want to talk lotus - look at this - from Jay Leno's garage. I know he's got more money than God, but the bloke is a genuine petrolhead.
Check this out, fully Lotus Elan 26R - one of Chapman's most beautiful babies - total classic - enjoy.

Shouldn't it be “old Loti”?

Re: Old Lotuses
I had a 944 and a 928 Porsche in the 80s, nice cars but didn’t keep either long. My brother had a TR6 black convertible with wire spoke wheels, nice looker. I nearly bought a Austin Healey but the old fashioned clumsy gear stick put me off.

The XK 120 Jag convertible has always been a favourite but prices have rocketed for all the old classics now.

Re: Old Lotuses
Takes a brave or minted man to go after one of these old Lotuses. They were fucking unreliable when they were new, will be a money pit now. Fucking class though.

Re: Old Lotuses
The car never went wrong mechanically, mid engine as Ferrari handled superbly, looked the dogs from the outside, cats sick interior, pop up headlights. It was a gravel road downhill and pissed, not the first car he has written off due to the devils brew!

Re: Old Lotuses
Supposed to have been a lot safer than most cars of the era. Crumple zones and all that.

Turquoise velour - now yer talking.

Re: Old Lotuses
Brother had one back in the 80s, white with turquoise velour, drove it into a lamppost when pissed and legged it, complete write off being fibreglass.
